Guarantees

When the work is completed, it is important that the guarantee offers long term assurances and protection.

Our twenty year transferrable guarantee will be issued upon completion of our specialist works. For your additional protection, we can offer an insurance-backed guarantee from the Guarantee Protection Trust (GPT), which illustrates that a remedial contractor has satisfied the technical and financial requirements of the British Wood Preserving and Damp-proofing Association (BWPDA). Membership of the BWPDA provides independent assurances on standards, quality, safety and technical competence. APS are members of the BWPDA. and GPT. which enables us to offer our clients the best peace of mind available in the preservation industry!

Dual Guarantees - what to look for

Most timber preservation companies issue a thirty year guarantee on their works, even if they have just set up in business. However, can you be sure that the company will remain in business for the full term of their guarantee? It is therefore, important to ensure that you get a dual guarantee covering both materials and workmanship.

What type of Guarantees are available

1. A Dual Guarantee issued by a Chemical Company

Timber preservation work also includes dealing with chemicals, such as fungicides, insecticides and silicone damp-proofing formulations. Remedial contractors can easily attain 'Approved Contractor' status with chemical firms simply by buying their products. This entitles the contractor to apply for dual guarantees which are issued to the client by the chemical firm concerned. The remedial contractor can then achieve 'instant credibility' with the general public, who naturally assume that an approved contractor must mean something.

2. A Dual Guarantee issued by The Guarantee Protection Trust

Strict pre-application requirements ensure financial stability and established trading history of the remedial contractor. Member contractors are regularly monitored by the BWPDA. Assurance that the timber/damp surveyor will possess the relevant technical qualifications and experience in accordance with The Institute of Wood Science Guidelines. Assurance that the quality of workmanship is of the highest standard. Remedial technicians will be fully trained to utilise the latest techniques and materials. Assurance that the correct health and safety measures will be implemented in accordance with COSHH regulations. A one off cost per treatment (plus 5% Insurance Premium Tax), for all remedial works below £10,000.

Guarantees always cover materials and workmanship. The GPT. is a totally independant company with no other business interests. The guarantees are insurance backed. Should the remedial contractor cease to trade, the GPT. will ensure that another member company will carry out any required rectification works at no extra cost. The guarantees are recognised by Local Authorities, Banks and Building Societies and Building Surveyors.

APS are approved contractors of several chemical firms, and are therefore authorised to issue dual guarantees through these companies. However, it is company policy to offer our clients the best peace of mind available in the preservation industry.
